Mike MarstonMichael P. Marston is a long time member of the Oxford community and is a 1989 graduate of Talawanda High School, where he participated in soccer, track and, of course, band. He received his Bachelor of Music in Education from Miami University in May 1997. He served as the Head Band Director for three years, in the National Trail School District, teaching band grades 5-12 and Music History. While there, he also began a steel band program. Most recently, Mr. Marston served for seven years as the Head Band Director, in the Eaton Community School District, where he taught band grades 5-12, the high school and middle school Jazz Bands, Music History, Music Theory and began another Steel Band program-- consisting of both curricular and extra curricular ensembles. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Marston is pursuing a Masters of Music in Education at Miami University during the summer sessions. He also performs professionally 20 to 30 times per year with various Caribbean ensembles. Mr. Marston’s professional memberships include the Percussive Arts Society, the Music Educators National Conference and its affiliate the Ohio Music Educators Association.
