Miami Hosting for Visiting Parents
In need of housing while visiting your son or daughter during Miami's Parents' Weekend or celebrating your son's or daughter's achievement on Commencement Weekend? Are the Oxford hotels fully booked? We may be able to help you out. As a fundraiser for our band program, several families of current and former Talawanda band members are willing to serve as hosts for Miami Parents. This Talawanda "Bed and Breakfast" is available on Parents Weekend and on Commencement Weekend and costs $180 ($90 per night per couple for two nights). We will provide a private room and breakfast in a Talawanda family home. You can fill out our online request form to make your reservation for our "Bed and Breakfast", email miamihosting(at)talawandabands.org or call at (513) 523-3380. We will do our best to match up your requirements with our host families. Your reservation will require payment in advance, must be for two nights, and no refunds will be given. Band Parents - Fundraising opportunity - Hosting
Band Parents:
Parents Weekend for Miami University this year is September 27-29, and Commencement Weekend is May 4-6. Traditionally, the THS Band Boosters have provided a bed and breakfast service for parents who are interested in spending one or two nights in a home rather than in a hotel. The parents pay $180.00 ($90 per night per couple for two nights) in advance, with checks being made out to the Talawanda Band Boosters. The host family is only responsible for providing a comfortable, clean place to sleep and a simple breakfast in the morning. Often, the parents don't want breakfast, thus making the job a little easier. Comments from the Miami Parents and Band Parents who participated were very positive. The Miami Parents are very appreciative of having housing in Oxford rather than Cincinnati or Dayton; your participation provides a real service as well as needed funds for the band.
Many parents have specific sleeping requests. Please fill out the form as soon as possible to indicate your intentions and to help me describe your accommodations to parents that call. If you decide to help, you will be hearing from me soon! Also, $40.00 of the money collected will be put into an account for your child to use towards Kings Island, Chicago, Band Camp etc.
Also, Miami University often gets requests from parents for housing when the hotels are fully booked, such as during summer orientation. Please indicate if you would be willing to host parents on those occasions. We have people interested now. So please let me know ASAP.
